A IRA DO AFETO dives into the light and darkness of affective relationships, placing a magnifying glass over human tendencies through the perspective of a clown who lives at the edge, sustaining extreme behaviours and constantly testing her limits.

Over the course of 60 minutes, we follow the journey of a woman on the verge of imprisonment, willing to take every possible risk in order to love and be loved. Through humour, the performance addresses themes such as abandonment, mental health, and psychological abuse, experiences lived primarily by women. Breaking the fourth wall, the protagonist invites the audience to join her on a roller coaster of feelings and sensations that exist inside the mind of a neurodivergent person.

On the day of her imaginary trial, the clown Devora pleads for imprisonment as the only way to guarantee both her own safety and that of others. Balancing on the threshold between her inner perceptions and reality, she invites the jury/audience to immerse themselves in the light and darkness of affection through her perspective.

Devora’s urgency demands that the audience deliver verdicts on the limits of normality. More than anything, she longs to rid herself of every trace of madness.

What, if anything, remains afterwards?
