TEIMA was born in 2020 amid the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, a period marked by the suspension of cultural events, as an initiative to encourage the continuity of artistic production in the State of São Paulo. It emerged as a platform for artists affected by this new reality, who continued to reinvent themselves and create a vibrant artistic scene in the online environment.
In August 2020, Ventania Cultural, Cotiara Produtora, and RIMA Coletiva—three production companies led by six women artists—joined forces to bring the initiative to life. Independently produced, the first edition of TEIMA presented 12 uninterrupted hours of live programming, featuring 21 performances from different artistic disciplines, more than 50 participating artists, and audiences of all ages from various locations.
For its second edition, in 2021, the festival expanded to three consecutive days of programming, offering five hours of performances per day, for a total of 15 hours. This expansion was made possible through funding provided by the Aldir Blanc Emergency Cultural Law.
